The High School Intro to XR Developer Program is a 4-week program that will prepare students to understand the elements of immersive experience design while learning to use Unity, an industry-standard software tool for XR development. This program lays the foundation for more advanced study of experience design, gameplay interaction, and eventual certification as a Unity Certified Associate.

  • An introduction to Unity Materials and Lighting
  • An introduction to Unity Animation Design and Visual Effects

  • Building a Project application file from Unity

Who is the Program For?

This program is designed for high school students interested in learning how to develop 3D and VR/AR applications. In addition to Unity coding concepts and project work, students hear from guest speakers from industry and have the opportunity to explore careers in VR/AR.

High School Students

Ages 14-18 (Grades 9-12)


Interest in creating in 3D and/or Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) applications

Program Schedule

The 4-week program requires a weekly time commitment of:

  • 4 week course which meets 4-6 hours each week.
  • Specific class days/times to be determined.
  • Additional 4-5 Hours of Independent Study and Project Time
